Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he loved taking part in numerous card games when he was young. He found himself getting very aggressive in these card games while competing against his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play many hours and do not win a majority of the time. He earned some additional money by becoming an runner for the poker players. He theorized he possibly could boost his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. The actual advancement in his game happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would regularly challenge one another. Howard was able to access some of the greatest minds in chess. Howard also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and play in the WSOP competition. She is one of the best female players the poker world today. Howard relocated to Las Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and played cash games for the successive 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
