Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has increased in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha/8 begins just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering follows where players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. One more round of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, an additional card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of wagering follows and then the river card is revealed. The entrants will need to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a number of players get confused. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize precisely three cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. No more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the best hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the identical concept in nearly all poker games.

The low hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the high hand wins the entire pot.

It may seem complicated initially, following a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the basic nuances of play with ease. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha/8 offers an exciting collection of wagering possibilities and owing to the fact that you have numerous individuals trying for the high, and a few trying for the low hand. If you enjoy a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it’s worth your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
