Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
