Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
